Indiana’s Commissioner Appointed Vice Chair of National EMS Compact

Indiana’s State EMS Director, Kraig Kinney, was appointed by the Executive Committee as vice chair of the Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice on November 2, during the Committee’s monthly meeting. When Donnie Woodyard was elected to the chair position, that created a need to fill the vacancy.

With a focus of assuring that the EMS Compact is operational, and all stakeholders have confidence to utilize the compact to its full capability, Kraig will fully support these efforts by serving the unexpired portion of the term of the office or until the next regular or special meeting of the Commission.

Kraig Kinney was appointed as Indiana’s Commissioner on April 28, 2020 with Indiana being the 20th state to enact the EMS Compact legislation on March 13, 2020. He serves as the Indiana State EMS Director with the Office of the State Fire Marshal in the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

“I am excited to work with Commissioner Kinney in his new role as Vice Chair,” said Ray Mollers, the Compact’s Executive Director. “Having worked closely with Kraig as the Chair of the Bylaws and Rules Committee, his background in the law is very helpful, creating more clarity to some terms in the model compact legislation and supporting documents is on the task list for the Commission.”

“It is an honor being named as the Vice Chair of the EMS Compact,” said Kinney.  “I look forward to keeping the Compact advancing”.
