About North Dakota’s EMS System

EMS Compact Legislation
Governor Doug Burgum signed HB 1337, the Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact, on April 1, 2019. North Dakota became the 16th state to enact the EMS Compact.

National EMS Coordinated Database Status

  • ✖ North Dakota is not yet submitting data to NEMSCD. An upgrade to the state’s Big Picture licensing system has encountered delays.

Qualified clinicians licensed in North Dakota may still hold a valid Privilege to Practice that is not yet displayed in NEMSCD. Contact the North Dakota EMS Office for verification assistance.
