WASHINGTON, DC (1 OCTOBER 2026)— The Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice today announced the launch of its new website, www.EMSCompact.gov. The site went live on September 30, 2026, with a new design and layout, new tools for EMS clinicians and employers, digital meeting books, and expanded educational resources, including a free one-hour continuing education course on the EMS Compact.

A New Design, Organized Around the People Who Use It

The new site is organized by audience, so each visitor can go straight to what they need. EMS clinicians find the Privilege to Practice and FAQs, the Clinician Guide, and information for military EMS personnel. Employers and medical directors find guidance for EMS agencies and medical directors. State officials find how states join the Compact and the legislative resources. The public and the media find news, public meetings, and the Commission’s governing documents.

Every page is designed for phones and tablets as well as desktop computers. The site meets federal website standards for a .gov domain, is designed to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, and includes site-wide search, an interactive participating-states map, and Spanish versions of the Privilege to Practice page and verification tool.

Privilege to Practice Verification, with a PDF Record and Pocket Card

Anyone can verify a Privilege to Practice by entering a clinician’s 12-digit National EMS ID. The check runs live against the National EMS Coordinated Database and returns each state license on record, along with a map of every state where the clinician may practice under the Privilege to Practice.

From a verified result, clinicians and employers can now download an official Privilege to Practice Verification Record as a PDF. Each record carries a QR code that anyone can scan to re-check the clinician’s status in real time, and it includes a printable, credit-card-size pocket card with its own QR code, so clinicians can carry proof of their Privilege to Practice and share it on the spot. Verification is also available in Spanish at EMSCompact.gov/es/verify.

Digital Meeting Books and a Full Public Meeting Archive

Commission meeting books are now published online as digital editions, with a linked table of contents and a downloadable PDF, so commissioners, stakeholders, and the public can follow every agenda item and its supporting materials. The public meeting archive brings together agendas, minutes, recordings, and meeting books for more than 200 Commission and committee meetings.

Educational Resources and a Free One-Hour CE Course

The site expands the Commission’s educational resources for clinicians, employers, and state officials, including the Clinician Guide, plain-language Privilege to Practice FAQs, terminology, and podcasts and videos.

It also offers Introduction to the EMS Compact, a free, self-paced course. Participants watch the “EMS Compact 101” overview video, then complete a 25-question mastery quiz grounded in the Compact model legislation, with instant feedback on every answer. On completion, participants can create a Certificate of Completion for one hour of continuing education, issued by the Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice. The certificate is created in the participant’s own browser; no personal information is sent to or stored by the Commission.

Continuity for Existing Links

Links and bookmarks to pages on the previous site are redirected to the corresponding pages on the new site. The website is hosted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
